It's In The Bag:

Sharing the Dignity this Festive Season

..do something that REALLY matters

Can you believe it's midway through November already? Nope, neither can I. As Christmas is just around the corner, and it is the season of giving, I think it's important that more people know about the incredible work of Share the Dignity. A charity for homeless and at-risk women, on a mission, to afford all women the dignity they deserve and that so many of us take for granted. They have collections throughout the year,  the #DignityDrive in April and August to collect and then distribute sanitary items to women in need and the It's In The Bag (IITB) collection, a Christmas appeal, where anyone can put together a handbag full of necessities, and some of life's little luxuries as a gift for a woman in need.
How can you get involved?

  1. Pull out a pre-loved handbag in good condition (make sure its something that you or a friend would want to receive)
  2. Fill it with pads, tampons, personal hygiene products and anything else that might bring a smile to a woman in need.
  3. Drop it off at a collection point in your local area, or any Bunnings Store nationwide!

What essentials are needed in the bag?

  • Sanitary Items (tampons, pads or both)
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Deodorant

The IITB collection runs from November 18 - December 2nd

The beauty of this campaign is its simplicity. It may seem like such a small gesture but it will give women the dignity they deserve, with products that will really make a difference to their life. Perhaps filling an entire bag yourself isn't feasible? Grab some friends and pull together the products you think homeless women might need (who knows, they might look a lot like the things you need) Or maybe make it a workplace mission- contribute a small amount each and make a massive difference for at-risk women and children. However you manage to contribute, your donations will go directly to those who need it.

A community of enthusiastic volunteers and a well-oiled management system ensures Share the Dignity is efficient and effective during the campaign and donations reach women in crisis.

To donate to the IITB campaign or to become a volunteer visit the Share the Dignity website.
