It's More Than Giving Pads, It's Giving Dignity.

Guess who's back with some more tampon related content? ME. Just when you thought my obsession with Share the Dignity Australia was over and you didn't have to see pads or tampons on your news feed, they're back and with another IMPORTANT collection so why not get involved?

The April #dignity Drive is a month-long campaign focused on collecting unopened packets of pads and tampons for distribution to women's charities, refuges and housing shelters. It is every woman's right to have access to hygienic sanitary items but in so many cases it is not a reality. At any given time in Australia 1 in 200 people are homeless, 44% are women and 27% are children*.

Imagine having to choose between buying dinner or a packet of pads when it is your time of the month (guys, try and stick with me here). NO woman should have to make that decision. Not only is it ridiculously unfair, but it is extremely dangerous for the woman's health. Using newspaper, dirty socks or tiny bits of toilet paper as makeshift sanitary items should NEVER be the last resort. So, how can you help reduce this injustice in your community?

1. Pick up an extra packet of tampons, pads when you are doing your weekly shop (fellas, toughen up and go and buy some -it's not as embarrassing as you would think!! WE DO KNOW THEY'RE NOT YOURS...)
2. Drop your donations off at your local collection point (locate it here), or purchase some there.
3. Give yourself a pat on the back, you did good kid.

You have until the end of April (I know,  I left this post to the last minute!!) to make a real difference to a women's time of the month. Period.
